About
If you're cruising through Coleman, Alberta, make it a point to stop at Chris' Restaurant, a small-town gem that embodies everything we love about classic diners. Tucked away at 7802 17 Ave, Chris' offers a nostalgic dining experience with a hearty menu that promises to satisfy any appetite.
From the moment you step in, you're greeted by friendly staff, including standout servers like Desiree, who manage to juggle multiple tables while maintaining efficiency and a warm smile. The restaurant buzzes with energy, a testament to its popularity among locals and travelers alike. If you're hoping for a table, it's wise to call ahead and make a reservation, especially during peak hours.
The standout plates are not just meals; they're an experience. Try the homemade bacon burger, extravagantly topped with eight slices of crispy bacon, served alongside crispy fries and savory gravy. Or savor the roast beef dinner, where you may find yourself wishing for a second stomach as the generous portions resemble something right out of a home-cooked feast. As one satisfied customer noted, some meals "looked like half the cow on the plate!"
The food at Chris' doesn’t just fill you up; it warms the soul. The atmosphere exudes a nostalgic charm, reminiscent of simpler times. One regular, Jessica Verhulst, underscores this with her tradition of stopping here on summer road trips. The restaurant offers an authentic small-town vibe—from the delightful brown mugs for your coffee to the vintage decor that evokes a sense of familiarity.
No visit is complete without treating yourself to a classic milkshake. Recommended flavors like strawberry bring back sweet memories while providing a refreshing contrast to the savory delights on the menu. As Heather-Anne mentioned, Chris' isn't just about food; it's about creating an experience you'll want to share with friends and family.
So, next time you're in the Crowsnest Pass area, make sure to stop by Chris' Restaurant. You'll find perfectly cooked meals, reasonable prices, and a friendly ambiance that captures the essence of a classic diner. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this restaurant promises to make your dining experience unforgettable.
“ Staying the night in Blairmore so decided to try Chris’ out for dinner. Our server was Desiree(hopefully I spelled it right). She had 10 tables going at once and was still very efficient. We ordered our food just shortly after we got there but waited at least 30 minutes for our meal. My husband ordered the Roast beef dinner with salad. It looked like he got half the cow on his plate. I ordered the bacon burger with fries and gravy. The burger was homemade and it had at least 8 pieces of bacon, too much for me. The meal was absolutely delicious but way too much. ”
“ Chris is gonna have to get a 5/5 because it has everything you need in a classic diner. Busy so you might wanna call to book a reso and ensure a spot. I had fries and gravy w the burger w ham on it (I forget the name) prices? Great, portion size? Great go see for yourself! ”
“ I absolutely love this restaurant and have made it a tradition to stop in every year when we pass through on our summer road trip. The food is delicious, the prices are incredible and the friendliness and service is outstanding. I'd eat here daily if I lived nearby. They were even kind enough to accommodate us close to closing. It's got such a great small town feel, the real deal, the way it used to be. Coffee served in proper brown mugs. Thank you so much and can't wait to return! ”
“ The old town district is not what it once was. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this establishment. All I can say is, "Wow, what a hidden gem The staff are friendly and pleasant. The food and portions are like a home cooked meal. Prices are reasonable. ”

“ We've been going to Chris' Restaurant for over ten years now and plan to for many more. It's our favourite breakfast place anywhere. In fact, I brought my family here for brunch the morning after our wedding. The last time we went they made me my favourite: French toast. I tried one of their milkshakes for the first time and I can't believe I was missing out all these years. It was the best ever! The atmosphere is casual and friendly and is an authentic old style diner. I highly recommend but don't take your time on Sunday morning or you might have to get a spot at the diner bar. The locals know this is the place to go. ”
